Commercial project grant

This grant covers funding of up to 40% of the cost of energy efficiency projects in commercial buildings. This includes offices, retail outlets, foodstores (e.g. supermarkets), schools, hospitals, hotels – essentially, everything except large industrial sites and residential buildings.

Commercial building design advice grant

This grant provides funding toward energy efficiency advice for new commercial building projects and major refurbishment. Eligible buildings could include offices, foodstores, schools, hospitals, hotels – everything except large industrial sites and residential buildings.

A minimum floor area of 1000m² applies (or 500m² for buildings located in Christchurch and at the initial concept or services and fit out design

Energy management grant

This grant provides funding of up to half the cost of expertise to set up an energy management plan for your company – including setting an energy-savings target and getting systems and an action plan in place to manage energy.

It is targeted at organisations with significant energy use in their commercial buildings e.g. offices, retail, foodstores, schools, hospitals, hotels - everything except large industrial sites and residential buildings.

Energy audit grants

This grant provides funding for an energy audit to evaluate how energy is being used, and identify the biggest energy and cost-saving opportunities.

Your business or site may be eligible if it has 150 kW or more of electric motor capacity in motorised systems, or 1.5 MWt of capacity in heat plant for hot water or steam systems. This covers heat used both for industrial processes, and space heating.

Air Efficiency Rating Scheme

A skilled compressor service technician can assess the efficiency of your compressed air system and identify for where efficiency opportunities exists. They also provide an overall efficiency rating of the system.

This scheme is designed for businesses who have a single air compressor.

Quality-certified motor rewinders

Quality-certified motor rewinders are certified to ISO 9001:2008 or the Telarc Motor Rewind Workshop Quality Code: 2009 and have demonstrated through independent auditing that they have the systems in place to achieve high quality rewinding of three phase electric motors.

Dairy shed heat recovery grant

This programme provides funding towards heat recovery and other energy efficient equipment in dairy sheds. Funding of up to a third of the cost of the supply and installation of the equipment is available through approved service providers.

Boiler tuning grant

This grant covers up to 40% of the costs of twice-yearly boiler tune-ups for a two year period. Up to $5,000 is available per year, per site for tuning your boiler(s) with combined capacity of 1500 kW or more. The boilers can be solid, liquid or gas fueled.

Heavy vehicle performance reviews

This programme provides a Heavy Vehicle Performance Adviser to undertake a review of your heavy vehicle fleet and identify where fuel efficiency opportunities exist and how to implement changes. This programme is designed for businesses with fuel consumption greater than 1 million litres per annum.

Feasibility study grant

This grant provides up to 40% of feasibility study costs, up to a maximum of $20,000. To be eligible, the applicant must be the owner or manager responsible for the plant or building that the project relates to (this does not preclude an application being developed by a consultant, in the name of a business owner or manager).

Crown Loans

This funding is available for implementing energy projects in government organisations – including government departments, regional and territorial local authorities, crown entities, tertiary institutions, district health boards and public and integrated schools.

Industrial project grant

This grant provides funding towards new technologies or system upgrades to help businesses become more energy efficient. The maximum amount of the grant is 40% of the cost of implementing the project, to a maximum of $100,000 per site.
