Episode 6 :: Fuel efficient driving - transcript
[Animated opening sequence, music and title: EECA ENERGYWISE: The Energy Spot]
We open on Jared standing in front of his house. His car is parked in the driveway. Jared says to us:
Which uses more energy - driving your car or powering your house?
Believe it or not, on average, they cost around the same!
Every day, when you're out and about, there are a few things you can do to save up to 20% in fuel.
Jared walks over to a plile of neatly stacked petrol containers - it works as around 300 5 litre cans - the pile is already quiet sizeable. He adds another can to the pile.
In over five years you can save the equivalent... of a year's petrol! No matter what you drive.
He continues on to his car, closes the door and heads off down the road. Behind the wheel Jared turns his attention to driving. We see his feet on the pedals. We cut to a variety of driving shots, over this we hear Jared's voice and graphics also appear on screen.
Graphics appear on screen:
- AA logo
- drive smoothly
- watch your speed and load
- check tyre pressure
- use air conditioning wisely
AA tests prove driving smoothly, watching your speed and load, checking tyre pressure and using air-conditioning wisely helps improve fuel efficiency and costs you less.
Jared pulls back into his driveway. He gets out and walks around to the boot and removes a set of golf clubs. He carries them back to the garage as he says:
Here's a tip. By not using your car as a storeroom, you'll save up to 5% of your fuel.
Jared is standing next to the petrol pyramid again. He sums up by saying:
It isn't only about what we drive, it's about how we drive. That's the key to saving the country over 620 million litres in fuel every year.
We cut to a close-up of Jared as he sums up by saying:
