Tourism
The Tourism Energy Efficiency Programme (TEEP) was a partnership project focusing on energy efficiency in the tourism industry. The key findings are listed in our 'energy efficiency for tourism guide'.
What are others doing?
Find out how tourism operators have improved their energy efficiency and reduced their operating costs:
- The Lazy Shag hostel installed a multi-oil clean burn boiler to supply the hostel's hot water slashing its hot water electricity bill by 92%. It burns used cooking oil from local restaurants. Read the Lazy Shag case study.
- Titoki Healing Centre installed a 50KW wood pellet-fired boiler to heat the 30 bed facility. Read the Titoki Healing Centre case study.
- Glazebrook Lodge installed a hydro generator to power the luxury lodge. Read the Glazebrook Lodge case study.
- Taurikura Lodge installed two wind turbines to power their lodge - and they are getting paid for the excess electricity they generate. Read the Taurikura Lodge case study.
