The study, commissioned by Wel Networks Ltd, investigated a 30kW electricity generation scheme on the biogas produced from the manure of a 400 sow “farrow-to-finish” pig breeding and rearing facility in Taranaki. Ongoing community concerns regarding odour emissions have prompted the owner to decide to integrate an anaerobic treatment step to the existing waste management system.
