Craggy Range - a nice drop in power use with no capital outlay
A partnership between Craggy Range winery and plant-design-and-manufacturing-company Transfield Worley, has seen an innovative way to install a heat recovery system with no capital outlay.
Through an Energy Conservation Performance Contract Transfield Worley agrees to install the system and Craggy Range agrees to pay for it through the real, measurable savings the system delivers. There are no additional upfront costs for the vineyard.
The system uses heat recovered from chillers and an air compressor to heat hot water for the vineyards facilities, offsetting electricity costs. At the current rate of savings, the system will be paid for in 3.8 years, and Craggy Range will then own the equipment and get the savings.
In addition to energy efficiency, the winery will cut its annual CO2 emissions by 157 tonnes.
