Renewable energy
Renewable energy is energy made from self-restoring natural resources. Renewable energy can be generated from bioenergy such as wood or animal residue, the wind, sun, rivers and lakes and geothermal resources. These energy sources create no or very small amounts of greenhouse gas emissions.
New Zealand has an excellent range and supply of renewable energy resources - around two-thirds of our electricity comes from renewable sources.
Renewable energy in business
Businesses that are looking to reduce their carbon footprint may wish to investigate using renewable energy such as wood or generating their own renewable energy. For properties unconnected to the local lines network, such as remote farms, generating your own renewable energy may make more sense than paying for a connection.
Using renewable energy may improve your brand and company reputation - research[1] shows more than a quarter of New Zealanders make purchase choices based on a company's environmental and social profile.
