Moffatt's Flower Company Limited owns and operates a business engaged in the growing of flowers for supply to commercial markets. Species are grown in glasshouses under a strictly controlled environment, the main species being roses. This report looks at their conversion of their two boilers to run on wood fuel.

The University of Otago property services building has previously been partially converted from direct electric heating to hot waters radiators with a wood pellet fuelled boiler. The installation of a second unit, a 100 kW Hargassner wood chip boiler, will allow the removal of the remaining electric heaters and an LPG operated warm air system from the carpenters' workshop. Goldpine Industries Limited produce fencing posts and other timber products at their Golden Downs site. The process produces a timber waste product that can be used as a fuel.
