Apply for a technology grant

To apply for a technology grant from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) you must meet the following business requirements and criteria:

Business requirements

Your business must be:

• Able to co-fund at least 60% of the capital cost of the project, subject to an assessment of the level and nature of risk associated with the project
• Willing to make information about your project publicly available, including the application and energy performance of the demonstrated technology, payback period and other relevant data
• Willing to allow third party monitoring and evaluation of the project
• Willing to disclose any other government or third party funding, incentives or other forms of assistance.

Criteria

Your application must show how your project will reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Each application is evaluated against four weighted criteria and ranked against other applications. The criteria are:

• The proposed technology has the potential for widespread adoption by energy intensive businesses in New Zealand (30%)
• The project is capable of cost effectively reducing direct or indirect greenhouse gas emissions and increasing business productivity and profitability (40%)
• The proposed technology is under-utilised or new in New Zealand (20%)
• The capability of the business to deliver the project (10%).

EECA reserves the right not to award any grants should the applications not meet the minimum criteria or should funding have already been allocated.

Make sure you send your documents before the next funding round closes 30 September 2009.

If your business is successful, you will be required to sign a contractual agreement.  This specifies the terms and conditions of the grant, and how these will be adhered to by your business and EECA.
