What is co-funding and how does it work?

We offer a range of programmes to accelerate the uptake of energy efficient technologies and the use of renewable sources of energy.

Our contribution covers a percentage of a project’s cost – not the total cost. There is also an investment requirement for recipients of EECA funding.

By co-investing, we help overcome financial and other barriers to clean and clever energy use by appropriately sharing the financial risk for early movers, so low-emissions options become financially viable and happen faster.

EECA’s role in energy

We use a combination of three important levers (co-investing, education and information, and regulation) to make change towards a sustainable energy system that supports the prosperity and wellbeing of current and future generations.

Using these levers we achieve low emissions outcomes at pace, helping meet our national and international targets, and unlocking the opportunity clean and clever energy offers New Zealand.

Other support options

As well as offering co-funding, we support your energy saving and emissions reduction efforts through sector-specific decarbonisation pathways, and evidence-backed information and insights.

Whether you’re looking for resources to support your business/organisation, your household or your personal lifestyle, you’ll find something to help you tap into the benefits of efficient and sustainable energy use.
