Transport funding & support
The Government’s Electric Vehicles programme was launched in May 2016.
The programme has a target of doubling the number of electric vehicles on New Zealand roads every year until they make up 2% of our fleet (64,000 cars by 2021).
If you have an innovative project that could help accelerate the uptake of electric or low emissions vehicles, take a look at our contestable fund.
The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is coordinating the joint electric vehicle procurement across the Government and private sector fleets. If you would like more information on joint procurement, contact New Zealand Government Procurement.
