Wet/dry basis converter
Use the dry-to-wet-basis and the wet-to-dry-basis calculators to convert quantities between the two conventions for measuring qualities of biofuel per weight.
Use the moisture-content-to-water-content and water-content-to-moisture-content calculators to convert between the two conventions for describing water content of biofuels.
Wet and Dry Basis
There are two conventions for measuring qualities of biofuel per kg, such as calorific value, these are referred to as the wet and dry basis.
The following equations show the difference between the wet and dry basis:
|quantity per kg (wet basis)||=||quantity||÷||green weight||(in kg)|
|quantity per kg (dry basis)||=||quantity||÷||oven-dry weight||(in kg)|
In addition, there are two conventions for describing the water content of biofuels water content (also referred to as the moisture content in the wet basis) and moisture content (also referred to as the moisture content in the dry basis). The difference is given by the following equations:
|water content||=||(||mass water||÷||green mass||)||x||100%|
|moisture content||=||(||mass water||÷||oven-dry mass||)||x||100%|
